Nara may be best known for it's many deer that roam the town. They are all very tame, as this one demonstrated for our camera

The gate to Todai-ji. A temple believed to be the biggest wooden structure in the world - pretty believable since this is only the gate

Todai-ji closer up

A daunting structure Todai-ji this building was built to house a giant Buddah. It has been re-built 3 times and believe it or not this is the smallest version. The small specks by the front doors are workers, who were restoring the front steps on the day we visited.

The giant Todai-ji Buddah is 15 metres tall.
