Entry #5: May 6, 2007

Headed for Home

Today we discovered that all good things must eventually come to an end as we packed up at 6:30am and headed for the airport.

After saying our good byes to Ange and Nick we hopped on one of the boats to the mainland where we got on a plane bound for Manila.

Saying goodbye - a sad occasion

The boat to the mainland - the stabilizing pieces of wood make
the boat look more like a waterbug.

6:30 am at Paradise Bay - the water was really still so we had to take one more picture

Since we hadn't had a vacation since October this one couldn't have come at a better time! We really liked some things about the Philippines:

  • The English - the language of business in the Philippines is English so we were very content to be in a country where we could understand what we were getting for our money.
  • The Food - Jill was in heaven! From Mongolian Grill to Greek to Mexican the Philippinos gave these dishes their own flare, not to mention the cost - $10 CDN got us stuffed!
  • Things you couldn't find in Korea - deoderant, colgate toothpaste, good gum, Wendys, there was plenty to make us happy.
  • The Drinks - with lots of fresh fruit the Philippines had many fresh shakes. Our resort also perfected the Baileys Shake - of which one of us had... ehem ...several
  • Lounge chairs, mid afternoon in the shade - heaven.
  • Our dear friends - since we hadn't seen Ange and Nick in 10 months a week with them was an excellent time to catch up, share stories and engage in our usual craziness.

Now that we are back in reality, looking over our pictures, stewing about going to work tomorrow, we really miss our time in Boracay.

Tomorrow's task - to begin planning our next vacation at the end of July, we are open to any suggestions.
